1. Some dinosaurs were as small as a hen, but the typical dinosaur weighed about as much as a hippopotamus or an elephant.
2. Dinosaur eggs are smaller than those of modern birds (relative to the weight of the mother). In fact, the largest known dinosaur eggs are much smaller than those of the extinct elephant bird of Madagascar.
3. Instead of chewing their food, some sauropods ground their food between stones in a portion of the digestive tract, much like the gizzard of a modern bird.

Staff Information
Karen Aoki
Karen has been the Teacher in Charge of Wagalus School from 1995 through 2000. Karen returned to the school in September 2001 and is currently teaching Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6. She is on the Board of Directors of the First Nations Schools Association and facilitates the meetings for School Assessment training.
Karen has enjoyed working with all of the students over the years. Karen lives in Port McNeill with her husband, daughter, and son.
Gordon Blampeid
Gordon is the Bus Driver and has worked with Wagalus School for the past 4 years.
Carole Ford
Carole Ford is the Wagalus Preschool Teacher. Carole has her ECE and is currently working on her ACYC. Carole fosters a learning through play environment in her class.
Marion Hunt
Marion Hunt, Education Administrator: Marion works in the background cheering on Wagalus School children, staff, and friends of Wagalus School. Marion provides a wealth of administrative support to the school. Although quite humble, Marion has played a tremendous role in Wagalus School’s growth. Marion does this by working closely working with the Teacher in Charge to ensure that the schools immediate needs are taken care of. Close to Marion’s heart and mind are the children. Marion has spent many hours juggling budgets to meet students’ needs. With Marion’s support the school has increased its resources tremendously.
Mary Hunt
Mary is a respected elder within the community. Mary has taught the Language and Cultural Program for the past 14 years at Wagalus School.
Nadine Hunt
Nadine Hunt has been the teachers aid for the past five years and has worked at Wagalus School for a total of 17 years.
Nadine works with the students in the Read Well program, Kindergarten and Grade 2. Nadine also helps with Kindergarten Math. Nadine helps students one on one or as a group in all subjects, preps for Read Well, Math and Art classes, hands out snacks and lunch, and supervises at recess and lunch.
Theresa Johnson
Theresa is our Head Start Cook who prepares meals for the students 4 days per week and snacks 5 days per week. Theresa also is trained in Read Well and assists students daily.
Laurel Johnson
Laurel is the Special Education Worker at Wagalus School. Laurel has been at Wagalus School since 2007. Laurel works one on one with students and teaches the Saxon Math program, she also supervises recess and lunch break.
After graduating from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Social Work, Laurel moved to Port Hardy in 1990. Laurel is married and has two sons.
Jacqueline Hunt
Jacqueline is the K – 3 teacher for Wagalus School. Jacqueline has worked with the school since September 2004. Jacqueline lives in the village with her husband, son and daughter.
